The Reality of Street Fighting for Martial Artists

The world can be a dangerous place. Without warning, many people find themselves in situations they cannot handle. It can happen all at once. One moment everything is calm and nice. The next second your world explodes into pain. It could be some passing thug that attempts to steal your purse or grab your wallet. It can be a drunken belligerent man at the bar looking for a fight. It could be anything and it can happen to anyone. Do not think you are safe because it has never happened to you. Violence only takes one time to happen to change your life. A real fight on the street can mean either spending a lot of time in jail or the hospital.

It is not all just doom and gloom. There are ways to defend yourself. The first step is to have the proper knowledge. The second step is to take action with that knowledge. When fighting in the street or at some local bar, things happen dramatically faster than they do on television or in a movie. The key is to have the right kind of training. Once you have trained enough, executing the proper moves over and over again, your instinct will take over and the thought process is taken out of the equation. This rapidly speeds up the reaction time of an individual and this makes survival that much more likely.

So what kind of training is available? The internet has become one of the greatest current access points for information the world has ever known. There are self-defense courses that can teach anyone how to handle themselves on the street, in a nightclub, in any situation they find themselves in. Whether someone has to defend one of their family members or their own bodies, finding the right course online is not only possible but a good idea. However, be aware that nothing can replace good instruction at the right martial arts school or dojo. Combining online courses and resources with actual real life self defense training in a martial arts school is an extremely effective way to prepare for a dangerous situation. The internet is a great place to get started on this journey.

But be aware there are many out there preaching the gospel that have no idea of what it takes to survive on the street. Look for a self-defense course done by professionals that have lived the lifestyle they are teaching and have done the techniques they show in a real life and death situation. The only way to know if something works is to do it for real in a chaotic situation. There are no rules in a knife fight. You want someone teaching you that has been there in the thick of things and made it out alive.

Another simple way to defend yourself or a loved one is by using the appropriate weapon for the situation. Weapons like pepper spray or a taser. Make sure you are trained in how to use these devices before trying to stop an attacker with them. If you do not know what you are doing, you can be arrested or the attacker can use them against you instead of the other way around. Always maintain a healthy respect for the law and possibility of an accident. The street is a violent place. Be prepared to face it.

Martial Arts and Self Defense Tips: the Science of the Fight

Most of the people who learn self defense techniques through martial art training do so in order to be able to defend themselves. It’s a wild world we live in and self defense skills are important to prevent potential attacks and to give yourself enough self confidence to survive. Although people are looking for martial art training for self defense reasons, most martial arts are based on ancient practices and techniques.

Here are some really cool tips that will help you get the most out of your self defense training:

Control Your Fear
Even if you know the best self defense techniques you are still vulnerable if you haven’t developed one significant skill and that is fear control. You need to be ready to stay calm during a physical or verbal attack. There’s no training that can simulate a real life situation (e.g. a real attack on the streets). However there are certain martial arts and self defense techniques that will help you control your stress and your fear. These techniques will make you feel a little bit comfortable during a stressful situation (e.g. an act of aggression against you). These fear control techniques involve breathing exercises and hand positioning.

Be Prepared For An Attack
You ought to know that your body sends various signals to others. If you can read your body language then it will be easy to read an attackers body language and be warned of a potential assault before it happens. Some key warning signs of an attack are easily noticed. For example when a person is nervous and looks around him/her all the time, when a person’s jaw is clenched or when his/her fingers form a fist. Another warning sign is when someone is hiding his/her hands. Many attackers also change the tone of their voices and speak aggressively when they are about to attack. If you notice such behavior by a person, then you better try to avoid talking or walking close to that person.

Attacked By More Than One Person
There are cases where attacks come from more than one direction (e.g. more than one person attacks you). Self Defense techniques can teach you how to deal with such bad situations. The first thing you must consider when facing multiple attacks is to run away, if this is possible. The odds are against you so do not try to be a hero. Try to keep all attackers in front you so that you can see what’s happening. If it’s possible try not to be backed into a corner. Do not try to attack first unless you are really skillful at martial arts and self defense. Instead try to keep a defensive but not aggressive stance. In such cases you need to keep your energy reserves high so do not make unnecessary moves.

Personal Protection Information You Need to Stay Safe

We are living in dangerous times. To know this, all you have to do is flip on the television, the radio, or read your local newspaper to hear one horror story after another. No matter where you live, or what you do for a living, everyone is at risk. Understanding what personal protection is and how you can use it to stay safe should be a primary concern for everyone.

Literally, from the moment you wake up in the morning, anything can happen. From being assaulted on your way to work, to your wallet and/or purse being lifted, or to walking in on a robbery in progress when you just wanted a cup of coffee. Crime happens not just everywhere, but it happens all the time. To be sure of your personal safety, you have to realize you are not living in a bubble.

So, what do you do to protect yourself? The first answer sounds simple. Be aware of your surroundings. No matter how secure you may feel at any given time, always be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary, any potential of something unsafe. Some general tips are:

Be aware of where you park your car. Always park in a well-lit area as close to the building you are entering as possible. Remember, what looks secure during the bright light of day may not be a safe place once dark.

Do not leave your keys in your purse or pocket when approaching your vehicle. Have them in your hand and ready. Not only will this allow you a quicker entry into your car if there is a problem, but also keys can be used as a self-defense weapon if necessary.

If someone looks suspicious to you, avoid him or her. Do not feel silly for stopping at a very public, secure place until the person moves on. This is especially important if you are out walking or jogging by yourself. Also, always vary your schedule when possible, from the time you head out the door to the path you take.

Do not be an easy target. If you walk with your eyes on the ground, it is obvious you are not paying attention to your surroundings. If you have headphones on with music blaring in your ears, you may not hear someone approach you until it is far too late to be proactive in your self-defense.

The above tips will help you in staying safe, but what do you do if/when your personal security is violated? There are personal protection devices widely available. Find a reliable source of information and learn all you can. Once comfortable, make the choice of which devices you will use. These could include anything from a basic stun gun, pepper spray, mace, a personal protection alarm, and/or many other types of protection devices, from alarms to weapons. When you have made your choice, keep the devices on you, or within easy reach, at all times.

Remember, personal security is something we all have to be concerned with. Be aware. Be vigilant. Be ready to defend yourself if the need arises.

How To Street Fight

How To Street Fight!!

 

Street fighting is now a commonly accepted form of self defense.  It  used to be scorned and  mocked, but after a couple of black belts were brutally beat down by this technique – it kind of forced it’s own acceptance. 

A common question asked by many is how to street fight?  For those of us who are not ashamed of doing whatever is necessary to defend ourselves, where do we go to learn this coveted and brutal form of self defense?  I know that I didn’t have to go live at the top of any mountain for five years.  I also didn’t have to take too many ‘beat downs’ either – although I’ve had my share.  What I did was studied a few of the “accepted techniques” of our day – and added my own touch to just about everything!  I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I haven’t picked up a move or two from the television set!

How to street fight is all about how to do whatever it takes to keep myself alive long enough to get to help.  Yes, that’s what I said – get to help.  Before I let some idiot brutalize me for something stupid, I’m going to punch, kick, bite, scream, and grab a handful of whatever I need to grab a handful of!  It’s not about being pretty – it’s about surviving another day!  If I wanted to be pretty, I’d learn Kung Fu, or Karate, and then go stand on the top of my car in my little outfit while I majestically went through every move I’d ever learned!  But it’s not about looking good – it’s about winning!

But how do YOU learn it?  You can take the same course that I did.  There are plenty of good videos, dvd’s, and books out there to get you started.  You can’t just wait around!  Get started with something!  Try this one <a href=”http://locatereviews.com/566123283″>How To Win Any Fight</a>. Remember, you’ve got to start somewhere and then apply what you’ve learned to what you already know.  Yup!! That’s what I said – to what you already know!  You’ve already got some in you already.  Just don’t be scared to use what god already gave  you.  But don’t abuse it.  Use just enough to get away.  Live to enjoy another day.

This is how to street fight.  Keep adding to your natural ability.  Keep learning and staying in shape.  Don’t be too scared – although we are all scared sometimes. But when it comes down to it – it’s really all about who gains the upper hand the quickest.  This is truly the secret on how to street fight.  I’m going to say it again because I can’t ethically tell you what I’m trying to say without getting myself into A LOT OF TROUBLE.  So I’m simply going to say it again – and hope that you catch my drift.  IT’S ALL ABOUT WHO GETS THE UPPER HAND FIRST!!!! If you’re defending yourself, do whatever you’ve got to do.
